Privacy Policy (POPIA)

How Bloemvillage collects, uses, protects and manages personal information in accordance with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Last updated: 31 August 2026

1. Who we are

Bloemvillage is a South African local information, directory, events and marketplace platform. For purposes of personal information processed through this website, Bloemvillage acts as the responsible party where we determine why and how that information is processed. Certain vendors, payment providers, organisers and other third parties may also act as independent responsible parties for information they collect or control.

Privacy enquiries may be sent to az.oc.xihpargoibobfsctd-432d25@nnahoj.

2. Personal information we may collect

Depending on how you use Bloemvillage, we may collect information such as:

• your name, email address, telephone number and account details;
• business, vendor, organiser or directory-listing information;
• event details, venue information, contact details, descriptions, links and uploaded posters or images;
• order, subscription, billing and transaction information associated with marketplace activity;
• correspondence, support requests, enquiries and other information you choose to submit;
• technical information such as IP address, browser, device, referring page, approximate location derived from technical data, cookies and similar usage information; and
• any other information reasonably necessary to provide a feature or service you request.

We do not intentionally request special personal information unless it is genuinely necessary, lawfully permitted and appropriately protected.

3. How we collect information

We may collect information directly from you when you create an account, submit an event or listing, contact us, place an order, subscribe, register as a vendor or use a form. We may also receive information from publicly available sources, organisers, businesses, service providers or other users where it is lawful and relevant to the operation of the platform. Technical information may be collected automatically when you use the website.

4. Why we process personal information

We process personal information only for lawful and reasonably necessary purposes, which may include operating and improving Bloemvillage; publishing and managing directory or event information; creating and administering accounts; facilitating marketplace, vendor, subscription and order functions; responding to enquiries; preventing abuse and fraud; maintaining security; complying with legal, tax, accounting and regulatory obligations; keeping appropriate records; and sending service or marketing communications where permitted.

Where required, processing may be based on consent, performance of an agreement, compliance with law, protection of legitimate interests, or another ground permitted by POPIA.

5. Directory, event and vendor submissions

Information submitted for publication may become publicly visible. Before submitting another person’s personal information, you must have a lawful basis and the necessary authority to do so. Please do not submit private, confidential or unnecessary personal information for public display.

We may review, edit for formatting, decline, unpublish or remove submissions where reasonably necessary for accuracy, safety, legal compliance, platform quality or rights protection.

6. Marketplace, payments and subscriptions

Marketplace and subscription functions may require us to process account, order, vendor, billing and transaction information. Payment processing may be performed by third-party payment providers such as PayFast or other providers made available on the site. Those providers process payment information under their own privacy and security terms. Bloemvillage may receive transaction references, payment status and related order information, but does not need to store full card details in order to operate the marketplace.

7. Cookies and technical information

Bloemvillage and services used by the website may use cookies, local storage and similar technologies for essential functions such as login, cart and account sessions, security, preferences, performance and analytics. Where a cookie or similar technology is not strictly necessary and consent is required, we will seek that consent through the site’s available consent mechanism. You can also control cookies through your browser, although blocking essential cookies may prevent some features from working.

8. Sharing personal information

We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers and operators who help us host, secure, maintain, communicate, process forms, manage orders, process payments or otherwise operate the platform; with vendors or organisers where needed to fulfil a request or transaction; with professional advisers; with regulators, courts or authorities where lawfully required; or with another party in connection with a legitimate business transfer, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We require service providers handling personal information on our behalf to process it only for authorised purposes and to apply appropriate security measures.

9. Cross-border processing

Some technology, hosting, email, payment, security or other service providers may process information outside South Africa. Where personal information is transferred across borders, we take reasonable steps to use service providers and arrangements that provide an appropriate level of protection as required by POPIA.

10. Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain legitimate business records, to resolve disputes, or to comply with applicable legal, accounting, tax or regulatory requirements. Information that is no longer required will be deleted, destroyed or de-identified where reasonably practicable and lawful.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards intended to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, misuse, alteration or disclosure. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a qualifying security compromise involving personal information, we will respond in accordance with applicable law, including notification obligations where required.

12. Your POPIA rights

Subject to POPIA and any lawful limitations, you may request confirmation of whether we hold personal information about you; request access to it; ask us to correct, update or delete inaccurate or unlawfully held information; object to certain processing; withdraw consent where processing depends on consent; and ask us to stop direct marketing.

To exercise a right, contact az.oc.xihpargoibobfsctd-356175@nnahoj. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa through the Regulator’s official channels.

13. Children’s information

Bloemvillage is not intended to collect personal information directly from children without the involvement or authorisation of a competent person where required by law. If you believe a child’s personal information has been submitted to us inappropriately, please contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, remove it.

14. Direct marketing

We will send electronic direct marketing only where permitted by law. Marketing messages will include a reasonable method to opt out. Service messages about an account, order, security matter or requested transaction are not marketing and may still be sent where necessary.

15. Third-party websites and services

Bloemvillage may link to websites, maps, booking platforms, social networks, payment providers, vendors and other services that we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review those policies before providing information to them.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services, technology or legal obligations change. The current version will be published on this page with its latest update date. Material changes may also be communicated through the website or another appropriate channel.

17. Contact

For privacy questions, access or correction requests, objections, complaints or requests relating to your personal information, email az.oc.xihpargoibobfsctd-357f4e@nnahoj.

This policy is intended as a practical POPIA privacy statement for the operation of Bloemvillage. It should be reviewed whenever the platform adds materially different data uses, integrations or services.
